ANALYSIS OF SONG LYRICS
Hey now, letters burning by my bed for you
Hey now, I can feel my instincts here for you, hey now
By my bed for you, hey now, hey now
Uhu, you know it is frightening
Uhu, uhu, you know it’s like lightning
Hey now, now,
Hey now, letters burning by my bed for you
Hey now, leave it to the wayside like you do, for you
Imagination calling mirrors for you
Hey now, hey now
Uh, you know it is frightening
Uhu, uhu, you know it’s like lightning
Hey now, now, hey now, now
Hey now, now,
Uhu, uhu, uhu, uhu
Meanings/Connotations/Feelings of the song:
Without watching any music video and just listening to the lyrics themselves, the initial vibe of the words that has been written is sad and gloomy. We believe the song is more of a vibe rather than a song due to the repetitiveness of lyrics. There can be many different interpretations of the song as the lyrics can be defined in many different ways. For example, "letters burning by my bed for you" may mean a form of hatred as somebody could be rejecting love letters. However, it can also be portrayed as memories being lost and burnt away. We discussed what we thought were the common themes of this song and we decided that the themes consisted of loneliness, longing and love.
Meaning of our Music Video:
THE NARRATIVE:
At our setting, Ingress Park, there is a huge castle along with a long but beautiful river. As our song is more of a vibe with ambient, ethereal and classic sounds, we thought it would be necessary to bring up the idea that the music video is about a girl finding her companion before time runs out and he disappears. In the lyrics, it states that there are "letters burning by my bed for you", which suggests that he is sending her letters and clues on where to find him. It is like a mystery that she needs to solve. As well as this, it states in the lyrics "leave it to the wayside like you do", which suggests he is leaving her at the end of the road, leaving her to try and find him. The lyrics "you know it is frightening and you know it's like lightning" suggest that the time is going too fast, alongside the fact that she is scared she is not going to make it in time. The repeated "hey now" suggests she is calling out to him.
