MTV is an American television channel owned by the MTV Networks Music and Logo Group. MTV was first launched on August 1st 1981. Its original purpose was to play music videos guided by television personalities. Its main target demographics used to be young adults, however, this has changed as the years have passed. The original MTV music channel is available in the UK and Ireland and features a variety of music usually consisting of songs that have made it into the Charts top 40 and top 20. MTV Classic utilises the new MTV logo.
